Ironheart Season 2 Confirmed? Creator Lays Speculation to Rest
July-5, 2025: Marvel fans are buzzing with excitement as Ironheart Season 1 wraps up with a shocking twist: Mephisto, the long-awaited devilish villain of the MCU, has finally arrived — and Ironheart’s creator has confirmed she’s ready for multiple seasons to continue Riri Williams’ journey.

Premiered on June 24 on Disney+, the limited series ends with an explosive reveal. Viewers believed Dormammu was the series’ big bad, but in a thrilling finale, Sacha Baron Cohen’s Mephisto steps out of the shadows, offering Riri (Dominique Thorne) the same soul-bargaining deal that corrupted Parker Robbins aka The Hood (Anthony Ramos).

Riri appears to accept the deal when her dead best friend Natalie (Lyric Ross) is mysteriously resurrected — and ominous black veins begin spreading across her body, hinting at dark consequences ahead.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, creator Chinaka Hodge revealed she wasn’t the only one behind the decision to introduce Mephisto. “It was not my decision alone. I was empowered by Marvel to make that decision,” she said. But she hopes the character — and Cohen — return to the MCU in a big way.
As for the cliffhanger-packed finale, Hodge admitted she was just as surprised by the ending as the fans. “We’re setting up Riri to make big, grown woman decisions in the MCU… I think our cliffhangers will excite fans and let them dream around whatever doom might befall them.”
Asked directly about the future, she didn’t hesitate: “Yes, a second season, a third season, a fourth season. Yes!”
While Marvel Studios hasn’t officially announced Ironheart Season 2, Hodge’s enthusiasm and the show’s open-ended finish strongly hint at Riri’s return — possibly entangled in Mephisto’s web of deception.
Will Riri pay the price for accepting Mephisto’s deal? Can Natalie’s resurrection be trusted? And what does this mean for the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe?
Chinaka Hodge hopes these threads continue in future Ironheart seasons rather than being absorbed into other MCU projects. “I look forward to answering that question with a staff of writers,” she teased.
