At the Mexican premiere of his upcoming film F1, Brad Pitt told E! News he’s open to working with Tom Cruise again, nearly three decades after their last collaboration in the 1994 hit Interview with the Vampire. But this time, Pitt jokes, he’s staying safely on the ground.

I’m not gonna hang my ass off airplanes and shit like that,” Pitt said with a laugh, referencing Cruise’s famous daredevil stunts in films like Mission: Impossible and Top Gun: Maverick. “So when he does something again that’s on the ground—then yes.”

Pitt’s F1, directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, comes from the same team that made Top Gun: Maverick, which grossed $1.4 billion globally in 2022. Interestingly, Kosinski revealed that he once had plans to cast Cruise and Pitt together in his version of Ford v Ferrari, but the project never moved forward due to studio budget concerns.

In a recent GQ interview, F1 crew members compared the two stars, praising Cruise’s intensity and Pitt’s practicality. Action vehicle supervisor Graham Kelly, who’s worked on several Mission: Impossible films, said, “Tom pushes it to the limit. That terrifies me. Brad listens, knows his limits, and he’d be the first to say, ‘Yeah, I’m not going to do that.’”

F1 is set to hit theatres on June 27, promising high-speed action—minus the airborne heroics Pitt is happy to leave to Cruise.
