The actor clarified he has no connection to any such project after a fake AI video showed him portraying Sikh spiritual leader Guru Nanak.
Mumbai, April 28, 2025 —
Aamir Khan has officially distanced himself from a controversy stirred by an AI-generated teaser that falsely portrayed him playing Guru Nanak in an alleged biopic.
On April 25, a YouTube channel with no ties to any known production house uploaded a video featuring Aamir Khan in Sikh attire, suggesting a film on Guru Nanak featuring Kareena Kapoor and backed by T-Series. The teaser, however, was quickly called out as AI-generated and unauthenticated.

In response to the brewing controversy, Aamir Khan’s spokesperson issued a statement, saying:
“The poster showing Aamir Khan as Guru Nanak is completely fake and AI generated. Aamir Khan has no connection to any such project. He holds the highest respect for Guru Nanak and would never be part of anything disrespectful. Please don’t fall for fake news.”
The fake teaser triggered outrage, especially among political leaders. BJP Punjab spokesperson Pritpal Singh Baliawal called the teaser a “deliberate attempt to incite the Sikh community” and has reportedly filed a complaint with the SGPC (Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee) and urged authorities to trace and apprehend those responsible.
Despite the controversy, Aamir Khan is focusing on his upcoming official project, Sitaare Zameen Par, a spiritual successor to his acclaimed 2008 film Taare Zameen Par. The film, also starring Genelia D’Souza, is expected to release later this year.
