“I never said Mahabharat would be my last film. I was asked which film could make me feel like I’ve done it all and need nothing more — and I mentioned Mahabharat. That ‘if’ was lost in translation,” Aamir explained.
He added, “Material-wise, Mahabharat has the emotional depth, scale, and grandeur that could leave me feeling artistically fulfilled. But I never said I’d quit after that.”

Aamir’s candid conversation with entrepreneur Raj Shamani had gone viral, in which he spoke about the scale and emotional impact of Mahabharat. The remark that “I might not want to do anything after that” led to speculation about retirement.
Before embarking on Mahabharat, Aamir is set to appear in Sitaare Zameen Par, releasing June 20. A spiritual successor to his 2007 classic Taare Zameen Par, the film revolves around a basketball coach training a team of neurodivergent children. Directed by R.S. Prasanna, the film is a remake of the Spanish hit Campeones and features 10 debutant actors in pivotal roles.
