Is Bret Michaels’ Diabetes Putting His Tour at Risk?

July 4, 2025: Bret Michaels is hitting pause — or at least considering it — after a recent diabetes scare left him with dangerously low blood sugar during a performance in Washington, Pennsylvania.

The Poison frontman, 62, took to social media on June 27 to update fans following the incident, which occurred just before and during his latest show. Despite feeling his blood sugar dropping, Michaels powered through a pre-show meet and greet and even added songs to the setlist.

“Although I knew my blood sugar was low, I was excited to meet everyone and not let anyone down,” he wrote. “At the end, my blood sugar walking off the stage was a real-life 39,” he shared — a level well below the CDC’s danger threshold of 54 mg/dL.

The rocker, who’s lived with type 1 diabetes since childhood, thanked fans for their support and expressed how much he loves touring — but admitted the intense travel schedule is taking a toll.

“This summer is completely insane — one night I’m in Pennsylvania, the next in Montana, then Oklahoma,” Michaels said. “I vow in the near future, I’m going to take that time needed… and please forgive me if I have to move some shows around.”

Despite the health scare, Bret Michaels still hit the stage the next night at WinStar World Casino & Resort in Oklahoma, where he posted a photo and thanked fans, calling the venue one of the best he’s ever played. “The energy and passion of fans singing along was unstoppable. Can’t wait to see you next year!”

His next scheduled performance is set for Saturday, July 5, at Spokane Live in Airway Heights, Washington. As of now, future shows are still on — but fans should keep an eye out for possible changes as Michaels puts his health first.
