Lipa recalled spotting Turner in a 2014 photo outside La Bodega Negra, where she used to work. Fast forward to 2020, they unknowingly attended the same pre-lockdown party and had photos with the same friend, taken an hour apart. Their lives kept intersecting until, a year after The River Cafe meeting, they ran into each other again in Los Angeles. Turner struck up a conversation by asking what she was reading, and it turned out they were reading the same novel — Trust by Hernan Diaz.
