Is Record-Breaking Hit Saiyaara Getting a Sequel? Director Mohit Suri Responds
The record-breaking romantic drama, starring debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, became the highest-grossing Indian romantic film ever with no traditional promotions.
August 14, 2025: A lot of people in the movie business and fans have been talking about the possibility of a sequel because Saiyaara was such a tremendous hit.
On the other hand, filmmaker Mohit Suri has a different view. He says that the folks who made the movie would rather it stand on its own than risk losing its potency with a sequel.
Suri told Faridoon Shahryar that the producer, Aditya Chopra, will make the ultimate choice, but he thinks the goal is to keep the film’s heritage alive. Suri stated, “I think Adi thinks we shouldn’t ruin the magic of a classic movie by making another one.”
The filmmaker seems to agree with this. He has directed both good and bad sequels, such Aashiqui 2 and Ek Villain Returns.
Saiyaara, which starred Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, was a huge hit that smashed box office records and made more than ₹500 crore around the world. It is now the Indian romance movie that has made the most money ever.
Fans naturally got engaged, and the song was very popular. This shows that a good tale can beat over renowned people and a lot of ads. The movie is still the most popular movie of 2025, and its theme tune even made it onto Billboard’s global charts.
