Is Saiyaara Title Song Copied From One Direction? Tanishk Bagchi Breaks Silence

Composer Tanishk Bagchi Responds to Viral Allegations of “Saiyaara” Melody Resembling Other Tracks. “Didn’t Steal Anything,” Says Bagchi, Explaining Chord Similarities in Hit Song

July 29, 2025: Tanishk Bagchi, a music composer whose latest hit song, “Saiyaara,” is doing very well on the charts, has strongly denied claims that the song’s melody is not original. The song has been criticized for being too similar to One Direction’s “Night Changes” and Jubin Nautiyal’s “Humnava Mere.” It has more than 155 million views on YouTube and has risen to the top of global charts.

Tanishk Bagchi says, “Didn’t Steal Anything,” in response to claims that “Saiyaara” is a copy of another song. He points out that the chords are similar.

Tanishk Bagchi told that the charges were false, saying, “No matter what I do, people will have something to say because they don’t have anything better to do.” They continuously trying to find ways to put me down. The song will go where it’s supposed to go, and that’s what’s occurring with Saiyaara too.

Bagchi talked on the technical aspects of writing music in response to the analogies. “The chords are the same as the melody. The A minor scale comprises only 3 or 4 chords, but every song has its own spirit. That doesn’t indicate that anything was taken. He went on to say, “Even if you can do that, it’s really hard to make it a hit.”

He strongly disputed that he meant to copy. “We didn’t take anything. It’s okay if there are some parallels; it happens, but we didn’t do it on purpose. Idhar se utha ke udhar nahi kiya (Didn’t pick and add anything). We focused on the song’s emotion, and it worked. He said, “That’s the magic of the track Saiyaara.”

The song “Saiyaara,” written by Irshad Kamil and composed by Tanishk, Faheem Abdullah, and Arslan Nizami, has touched fans emotionally with its emotional melody and lyrics. Its huge popularity is mostly because to how often it is used in reels, films, and social media posts, especially for sad or romantic themes.
