July 27, 2025: Is there a new episode of Saturday Night Live on tonight, July 26, 2025? No, the answer is no. SNL is on summer break right now. The last fresh show aired on May 17 and had Scarlett Johansson as the host and Bad Bunny as the musical guest.
Even though SNL isn’t fresh tonight, it’s a wonderful moment to look back at one of Season 50’s best hosts, comedian Nate Bargatze. Bargatze hosted again on October 5, 2024, with Coldplay as the musical guest. His first show in 2023 was a huge hit, with the “Washington’s Dream” sketch becoming viral and getting 24 million views on SNL’s YouTube account.

Even though Bargatze had only hosted SNL50 twice, he blended perfectly in with the show’s returning favorites like John Mulaney, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Quinta Brunson, Jon Hamm, and Scarlett Johansson. His second program had a follow-up to “Washington’s Dream” that people were really looking forward to.
“Streeter Sidell and Mikey Day came up with the idea and wrote it. After his second appearance, Bargatze told Parade, “I was able to sync it up very well with my rhythm.” He said, “I was worried about doing it again, but when I saw the new one, it felt like he had different parts, and I realized it was just fun to be George Washington.”
The October 2024 show also had several great moments, like the funny “Water Park” sketch, which dealt with the difficult situation of a body at the top of a slide, and the “Mile High Burger Challenge,” which starred Season 50 cast member Heidi Gardner.
