“We are going to be releasing quite soon, I am very nervous. I know that a lot of you out there are curious about what’s going to happen in Season 3, but all of us are more curious about how much you’re going to enjoy it. So I can’t wait, I’m very nervous.”

Lee, who won an Emmy in 2022 for his performance, has been at the forefront of the series since its explosive debut. Squid Game went on to become a global sensation and was crowned Nielsen’s most-watched series of the 2024–25 season.

Season 3 picks up after the failed rebellion at the end of Season 2, with Gi-hun returning to the games under more dangerous circumstances than ever before. The trailer teases higher stakes, darker turns, and a brutal race toward the end.

Actor Lee Byung-hun, who portrays the enigmatic Front Man, also expressed admiration for director Hwang Dong-hyuk’s storytelling:

“It was just perfectly written. It was such an intriguing and gripping read and I was once again in awe of director Hwang’s abilities.”

While Lee Byung-hun expressed satisfaction with the ending, he echoed Jung-jae’s sentiment of curiosity regarding fan reactions:

“I’m happy with how it ended, but I know that the fans out there each have what they want to see happen. So I really am curious about how they’re going to respond to it. And I’m very nervous to find out.”

📅 Squid Game Season 3 premieres on June 27, 2025, only on Netflix.

The end of the games is near. But whether the finale satisfies its global audience remains the biggest challenge yet.
