May 25, 2025: The beloved romantic comedy Luka Chuppi, which starred Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon, is reportedly gearing up for a sequel, and the makers are planning some exciting changes. According to early reports, Maddock Films is developing Luka Chuppi 2 with a fresh cast and a supernatural twist to set it apart from the original.

Varun Dhawan and Sharvari Wagh are the frontrunners to headline the sequel, with both actors having reportedly given their nod to the concept. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film is expected to go on floors in the first half of 2026 once the script is finalized.

The original Luka Chuppi was a surprise box office success, charming audiences with its quirky humor and fresh take on love and relationships. The sequel promises to carry forward the same spirit but with a new storyline and a fresh cast.

Meanwhile, Varun Dhawan is also busy with other projects. He is currently shooting for the romantic comedy Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai in Scotland, co-starring Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur. Directed by the legendary David Dhawan, the film boasts an ensemble cast including Maniesh Paul, Rajeev Khandelwal, Mouni Roy, Kubbra Sait, Chunky Pandey, Jimmy Shergill, and Rohit Saraf. The film is slated for an October 2025 theatrical release.

Additionally, Varun Dhawan will be seen portraying Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya, a Param Vir Chakra awardee, in the much-anticipated war film Border 2. The sequel to the 1997 blockbuster Border will see Sunny Deol reprise his iconic role, alongside Varun, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. Directed by Anurag Singh, the film is scheduled to release on January 23, 2026.

On the other hand, Sharvari Wagh is currently busy shooting for Alpha alongside Alia Bhatt, adding another feather to her growing filmography.
