Isha Ambani Stuns at Met Gala 2024 in Rahul Mishra’s Floral Couture Sari Gown

Isha Ambani, Director of Reliance Industries Limited, captivated the audience at the Met Gala 2024 with her stunning appearance. At this significant fashion event held at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, Isha chose a couture sari gown by Indian designer Rahul Mishra, beautifully styled by Anaita Shroff Adajania. The gown featured a long floral train that splendidly tied in with this year’s Met Gala theme, “The Garden of Time.”

Anaita Shroff Adajania took to Instagram to share photos of Isha’s outfit, highlighting the deep thought and craftsmanship behind its creation. Anaita explained that Isha’s ensemble “embraces sustainability by incorporating elements from Rahul’s past collections. Delicate samples of flowers, butterflies, and dragonflies were meticulously integrated from the archives into the design, via distinct applique and embroidery techniques, such as Fareesha, Zardozi, Nakshi, and Dabka, as well as French knots. Together, all of these elements carry a powerful narrative about the state of the planet and offer a message of hope and rebirth.”

The creation of the gown was a labor of love, hand-embroidered by artisans in several Indian villages, showcasing the skill of hundreds of local craftspeople and weavers. Complementing her gown, Isha carried a clutch crafted by Swadesh, employing ancient Indian art forms of Nakashi and Miniature Painting. “The exquisite Jade clutch bag features an Indian Miniature Painting created by Jaipur artisan Hari Narain Marotia, a traditional art form that has been practiced in India for centuries. Despite its small scale, the painting is highly detailed and expressive, featuring India’s national bird, the Mayura,” Anaita added.

The jewelry was equally striking, with traditional lotus hand bracelets (Haathpochas), parrot earrings, and a flower choker designed by Viren Bhagat.

The look was universally admired, with actress Janhvi Kapoor commenting, “Insane insane insane” and another social media user adding, “Wow….love it.” This appearance marks another notable Met Gala moment for Isha Ambani, who made her debut at the event in 2017 with a fashion-forward ensemble by designer Prabal Gurung, and has been a recurring figure at the gala in subsequent years.
