April 17, 2025: The much-awaited royal comedy series The Royals, starring Zeenat Aman, Ishaan Khatter, and Bhumi Pednekar, has officially announced its release date. The series, which offers a modern-day take on royal life, will begin streaming on Netflix on May 9.
Netflix shared the exciting news along with a new poster featuring the lead pair. The caption teasingly reads, “A ziddi rajkumar meets a girlboss aamkumari. Royal mess, or shahi love story? Watch The Royals, out May 9, only on Netflix.” The series will be a rollercoaster ride of royal drama, love, and comedy, with a contemporary twist.
Directed by Priyanka Ghose and Nupur Asthana, The Royals is an eight-episode series that brings a fresh, fun perspective to the glitter and romance of royal life. Alongside the lead trio, the show also stars Sakshi Tanwar, Nora Fatehi, Milind Soman, and Dino Morea in pivotal roles.
Ishaan Khatter, during his appearance at Lakme Fashion Week, expressed his excitement about the project, calling it “very fresh” and “bingeable.” He also shared his delight in working with the legendary Zeenat Aman, calling her an icon. “We had a blast, and it was great working with her as well as the entire cast,” he added.
Fans can expect a royal mess and a lot of heart in The Royals, a perfect blend of modern royalty and romance, coming soon to Netflix.
