Ishaan Khatter Channels Modern Maharaja Vibes In Gaurav Gupta Couture At Cannes 2025

Making a royal red carpet debut, Ishaan Khatter turned heads at Cannes 2025 in a bordeaux velvet bandhgala with Celtic embroidery, blending tradition with high fashion.

Cannes, May 21, 2025 – Actor Ishaan Khatter made a striking red carpet debut at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, redefining male celebrity fashion in a statement-making ensemble by designer Gaurav Gupta. With his films The Royals and Homebound both screening at the prestigious event, Ishaan’s presence was more than symbolic—it was sartorially commanding.

The Look: Royal, Refined, Revolutionary

Eschewing the traditional tuxedo, Khatter opted for a rich bordeaux velvet bandhgala, sharply tailored in Gupta’s signature East-meets-West silhouette. The piece featured black zardozi Celtic knot embroidery at the collar and cuffs—an intricate nod to ancient symbolism, representing “timeless connection and inner strength”, as described by the designer.

“The silhouette reinterprets the classic Indian high-collared jacket,” Gupta said, “but through the lens of modern couture and craftsmanship.”

Ishaan paired the jacket with a wrap-style silk shirt and wide-legged velvet trousers, maintaining a careful balance between opulence and restraint.

Styled by Alexander Roth, the look was accessorized with:

  • Glossy black patent leather shoes
  • A sleek silver ring
  • A rectangular silver timepiece

On the grooming front, Ishaan kept it effortlessly regal—gel-sculpted curls, a neatly trimmed beard, and an aura that echoed a 21st-century Maharaja.

Cannes 2025: A Career High

At just 29, Ishaan Khatter’s double feature at Cannes signals a pivotal moment in his acting journey. While Homebound has drawn critical attention, it was The Royals—with its sweeping visuals and royal themes—that seems to have inspired this red carpet homage to Indian heritage and power dressing.
