Ishan Kishan’s Blistering 94 Powers SRH To 231/6 Against RCB In High-Octane IPL Clash

May 23, 2025: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) posted a mammoth total of 231/6 in their 20 overs against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), thanks to a scintillating unbeaten knock of 94 off 48 balls* by Ishan Kishan and a fiery cameo from Aniket Verma, in a high-stakes IPL 2025 fixture held on Friday in Lucknow.

RCB’s stand-in captain Jitesh Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl first—only to face an all-out assault from the SRH top and middle order.

Powerplay Blitz

SRH openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head wasted no time, putting up a rapid 50-run partnership by the fourth over. Sharma dazzled with a quickfire 34 off 17 balls, including three fours and three sixes, before falling to Lungi Ngidi. Head followed soon after, dismissed for 17(10) by veteran Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Kishan Holds the Fort

With SRH at 71/2 at the end of the powerplay, Ishan Kishan steadied the innings while maintaining an aggressive tempo. He was joined by Heinrich Klaasen, who contributed a handy 24 off 13 balls before falling to Suyash Sharma in the 9th over.

Middle-Order Fireworks

Enter Aniket Verma, whose explosive 26 off just 9 balls (3 sixes, 1 four) gave the innings a timely surge before he was dismissed by Krunal Pandya. Though Nitish Reddy failed again, scoring just 4, SRH kept the momentum alive.

Abhinav Manohar added a run-a-ball contribution before his dismissal, but Kishan continued to anchor and accelerate the innings. He brought up his half-century in just 28 balls, marking his first 50+ score of the season, having scored a century in SRH’s season opener.

Record Total & Bowling Highlights

SRH crossed the 200-run mark in the 18th over, finishing with a commanding 231/6. Kishan remained unbeaten on *94 (48 balls)**, narrowly missing a second century of the tournament.

For RCB, Romario Shepherd was the standout with 2/14, while Ngidi, Bhuvneshwar, Suyash, and Krunal Pandya chipped in with a wicket each.

What’s Next?

With a target of 232 runs, RCB will need a record-breaking chase and some fireworks from their top order to pull off a win.

Brief Score:
SRH – 231/6 (Ishan Kishan 94*, Abhishek Sharma 34; Romario Shepherd 2/14)
RCB – Yet to bat
