Jaane Tu: First Song From Vicky Kaushal-Rashmika Mandanna Starrer ‘Chhava’ Unveiled

January 31, 2025: A.R. Rahman’s much-anticipated romantic ballad Jaane Tu from the upcoming period drama Chhaava was unveiled on Friday, featuring Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna. The song, which is a tribute to the enduring love between Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj (played by Kaushal) and Maharani Yesubai (Mandanna), captures the emotional depth of their relationship, from the birth of their child to the simple joys of everyday life.

Composed by Rahman, with soulful vocals by Arijit Singh and heartfelt lyrics by Irshad Kamil, Jaane Tu is a powerful love ballad that transcends time. Rahman shared that the track was intended to bridge the worlds of historical and contemporary romance. He added that Arijit Singh’s classical expertise brought an emotional intensity to the song, elevating it to a level of devotion and longing that few can match.

Singh also expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with Rahman, calling the song divine and sincere. The melody, he said, hit him at a deep emotional core, making it a special experience.

Jaane Tu brings viewers through key moments in the royal couple’s journey, showing not just the grandeur of their lives, but the intimacy and love they shared in the more mundane moments. The visuals feature Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna, who perfectly embody the love story of the legendary figures.

Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava is set against the backdrop of the Maratha empire, portraying the reign of the valiant Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. It’s a historical drama that highlights both the struggles and triumphs of this great ruler, as well as the emotional bond between him and his queen, Maharani Yesubai.

The movie, which also stars Akshaye Khanna, is set to hit theaters on February 14, 2025. However, it has recently been at the center of controversy after protests from Maratha groups over a dance sequence in the trailer, leading the makers to remove the number from the final cut.

Despite the controversy, Chhaava promises to offer a compelling and emotional portrayal of one of the most significant chapters in Maratha history, with Jaane Tu setting the tone for the romance that will unfold on screen.
