Jaat Box Office Report: Sunny Deol’s Film Declared a Hit, Falls Short of Blockbuster Status
May 2, 2025 | Mumbai
Sunny Deol’s action-drama Jaat has turned out to be a moderate box office success, registering ₹86.85 crore in domestic collections over 22 days. While not a runaway blockbuster like Gadar 2, the film has outperformed expectations in select regions, notably Rajasthan, Delhi/UP, and East Punjab.

Despite no franchise tag or crossover appeal like Kesari Chapter 2 or Raid 2, Jaat has resonated strongly with its target audience, particularly in the northern belt. Its regional pull mirrors the old-school masala appeal of Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (₹76.65 crore), which it has now surpassed in nett India earnings.
However, when compared to the ₹513.75 crore domestic haul of Gadar 2, Jaat has captured less than one-fifth of that milestone.
After an encouraging start, Jaat began losing momentum by the third weekend. Its day-wise performance dipped significantly:
The Labour Day holiday on May 1 did little to push collections due to stiff competition from Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2 (₹18 crore opening) and Akshay Kumar’s Kesari Chapter 2, which is approaching ₹75 crore with positive word-of-mouth.
Despite its limitations, producers have already greenlit Jaat 2. The move suggests confidence in building a franchise, perhaps learning from the success formulas of sequels like Pushpa or Drishyam.
