Jackie Chan Quashes Death Hoax, Actor-Filmmaker Alive & Healthy

Action legend Jackie Chan has confirmed he is “still alive” after social media was flooded with false reports alleging he died from complications due to decades of on-set injuries, sparking worldwide panic among fans.

November 11, 2025: The world of cinema held its breath on Monday as veteran actor and filmmaker Jackie Chan became the latest celebrity target of a pervasive online death hoax. False reports, circulating widely across platforms like X and Facebook, claimed the 71-year-old action icon had passed away due to long-term health complications stemming from his famously dangerous on-set stunts.

The viral posts, often accompanied by a doctored image of Chan in a hospital bed, spread panic by alleging: “Jackie Chan, 71, passes away after battle with complications from decades of on-set injuries.” Some posts falsely cited confirmation from his wife and daughter.

Rumours Fueled by AI and Speculation

The fabricated stories asserted that the legendary 2016 honorary Oscar winner had been undergoing months of treatment before succumbing to his illness. Reputable news publications and official fan pages quickly worked to debunk the claims, reassuring fans that the martial arts master is alive, healthy, and actively working on multiple major projects.

This latest hoax highlights the continued challenge celebrities face in dealing with misinformation. Ironically, the rumour of Chan’s passing spread on the same day as a similar death hoax surrounding Bollywood veteran Dharmendra.

A Repeated Target

This is far from the first time Chan has been forced to quash reports of his death. The actor previously addressed similar false reports in 2015, humorously confirming his status.

The star remains extremely active in the film industry. He was recently seen performing his song “Country” at the International Poetry and Wine Culture Conference in Luzhou, China, on November 2, 2025, and his film The Shadow’s Edge topped the Chinese box office earlier this year.

His busy production slate continues to include the highly anticipated sequels New Police Story 2 and Rush Hour 4, along with projects like Project P and Five Against a Bullet.
