The track, shared by Jackson on Instagram on Friday, addresses the importance of setting boundaries and prioritizing oneself. In the post, Jackson explained that “GBAD” reflects the idea that life is beautiful, but sometimes, one must adopt a tough stance, not to harm others, but to protect their own well-being. The rapper elaborated, “A lot of the time, we want to satisfy everyone, but we can’t. A lot of times, it ends up with people taking advantage of your kindness and using it against you.”
The song’s lyrics delve into the difficulties of standing up for yourself, even if it means being perceived as the “bad guy.” Produced by Grammy-winning producer Dem Jointz, “GBAD” features smooth alt-R&B beats, with Jackson’s distinctive voice adding emotional depth to the track.
Alongside the song’s release, Jackson also dropped a music video directed by Rich Lee. The video follows Jackson’s alter ego, “Magic Man,” a character who feels unappreciated despite always being expected to help others. This marks the second song from Jackson’s Magic Man 2 album, with his first single, “High Alone,” having released last month and topping Apple Music charts in 22 countries.
