Jacqueline Fernandez’s Mermaid Inspired At Cannes 2025: Pics Inside

At the Cannes Film Festival 2025, Jacqueline Fernandez praised the evolving roles for women in Indian cinema, saying age no longer limits actresses and stories are finally being told on their terms.

May 21, 2025: Cannes, May 20, 2025 – Actress Jacqueline Fernandez, speaking at a panel hosted by Deadline Hollywood and the Red Sea Film Foundation, delivered a powerful message about gender representation and changing norms for women in Bollywood.

Addressing long-held stereotypes, Jacqueline emphasized that the Indian film industry has come a long way. “In Bollywood, it’s no longer about fitting a cookie-cutter mold—whether by age or appearance. That’s changed significantly,” she said. “Women of all age groups are now getting strong, lead roles written specifically for them.”

Jacqueline highlighted how the growing diversity of narratives is creating space for actresses to thrive beyond age-based limitations. “There’s no more a shelf life,” she asserted. “While many of us still ask how to stay relevant with age, so many women are breaking that boundary and proving that passion doesn’t fade with time.”

She also spoke about the wider inclusivity now shaping cinema: “What makes this industry so beautiful is that everyone has a story to tell—regardless of gender, race, religion, or age. And today, those stories are being told in a much freer way.”

Jacqueline’s remarks echo a broader shift in Bollywood, where women-centric stories like Gangubai Kathiawadi, Darlings, Scoop, and Sita Ramam have garnered both critical acclaim and box office success, signaling an industry in transformation.
