January 30, 2025: Actor Jaideep Ahlawat recently spoke out on the topic of nepotism in Bollywood, highlighting the challenges faced by star kids in the industry. While many outsiders perceive Bollywood as being unwelcoming to non-film industry families, Ahlawat shared a nuanced perspective on how even “nepo kids” like Alia Bhatt endure their own struggles, despite coming from well-known film families.
The Paatal Lok actor expressed admiration for Alia’s acting skills and work ethic. He emphasized that Alia should not be judged solely because she was born into the Bhatt family. “Alia is such a brilliant actress,” Ahlawat said. “Imagine if she had to read comments all day calling her a ‘nepo kid’. How strange must that feel?”
Ahlawat also pointed out that it’s not Alia’s fault that she was born into a family immersed in the film industry, asking rhetorically, “Uski koi galti hai kya agar woh Mahesh Bhatt ke ghar mein paida hui hain?” He drew a comparison, explaining that it’s similar to the child of doctors being labeled as “the doctor’s child” and expected to follow in their footsteps—something that would undoubtedly be frustrating.
He also spoke about Alia’s dedication and professionalism, recalling their work together in Raazi. “Alia comes to the set with so much preparation. You can see it in Raazi. When we worked together, it was clear how well she had prepared for her role,” Ahlawat said, praising her commitment to her craft.
On the professional front, Jaideep Ahlawat has been receiving praise for his role in Paatal Lok season 2, which was released in January 2025. Known for his impactful performances in films like Gangs of Wasseypur, Raazi, and Maharaj, Ahlawat is set to appear next in the third season of the popular series Family Man, starring Manoj Bajpayee.
