
James Cameron to Co-Write Movie Adaptation of Acclaimed Author Joe Abercrombie's Best Seller 'The Devils'
June-3, 2025: Filmmaker James Cameron, known for his work on “Titanic,” “The Terminator,” and the “Avatar” series, has announced he will co-write a film adaptation of Joe Abercrombie’s best-selling fantasy novel The Devils.

Cameron shared the news on his Facebook account on Monday, expressing his long-standing admiration for Abercrombie’s work. “I’ve loved Joe’s writing for years, and the freshness of the world and characters in ‘The Devils’ finally convinced me to partner with him,” he wrote.

Cameron will begin work on the script once he wraps up Avatar: Fire and Ash, the third installment in the Avatar franchise, which is slated for release on December 19.
The novel The Devils takes place in an alternate medieval Europe threatened by an elvish invasion hungry for human flesh. Abercrombie, renowned for the First Law trilogy and Age of Madness series, expressed excitement about working with Cameron. “No one can balance mind-blowing action and personal stakes like he does,” Abercrombie said.
