James Gunn Calls Batman II Casting Rumours ‘Nonsense’
The head of DC Studios took to social media to debunk speculation that the superhero sidekick Robin would be cast in the upcoming film. Gunn said that only a handful of people have read the script, warning fans to “stop believing this nonsense.”
August 11, 2025: Warner Bros. Discovery has revealed that filming for Batman Part II, the much awaited sequel by Matt Reeves, will start “next spring.” A recent letter to shareholders announced the news and applauded the huge success of James Gunn’s Superman movie.
The letter said that Gunn is currently working on a number of other DC projects, such as a new Wonder Woman movie and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
In another story, James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, used social media to put an end to a big fan myth about the next Batman movie. After people on the internet thought the movie might show Batman’s sidekick Robin, Gunn put a straightforward warning on Threads. “Guys, please stop believing this nonsense,” he said. “I believe six of us have read the script.” Nobody knows anything about the second Batman movie.
Gunn had already given a similar warning, saying that any plot details that are going around online are “made up or a guess.” The fact that the studio is keeping the script secret shows how much they want to keep the plot a secret until production starts in 2027.
