James Gunn Confirms Chris Pratt Role In The DCU As Batman?

DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has finally put a long-running rumor to rest, confirming that his frequent collaborator, Chris Pratt, will not be the next Batman. However, Gunn’s comments leave the door wide open for the actor to join the new DC Universe in a different role.

August 28, 2025: James Gunn, one of the co-CEOs of DC Studios, has explicitly responded to speculations that Chris Pratt will play the Dark Knight in the new DC Universe (DCU). This has put an end to certain fan theories and sparked new ones.

In a recent interview, Gunn made it obvious that Pratt won’t be portraying Bruce Wayne, but he might still be in the franchise in the future.

Gunn’s answer to the topic of whether his long-time collaborator and Marvel star could play Batman in the DCU was short but strong: “As Batman? No. As something else? “Yes.” The comment has spawned new rumors regarding which character the actor would play. Fans have suggested that he play Booster Gold or even a hero in the new Green Lantern series.

The actor and director have worked together for a long time. They all collaborated on all three of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy movies, with Pratt playing Star-Lord. Gunn is known for putting performers he trusts from previous movies into his current ones. In the first chapter of the DCU, “Gods and Monsters,” Nathan Fillion and Bradley Cooper both got parts. Because of this past, it appears much more likely that Pratt will get the part.

The new Batman hasn’t been cast yet, but The Brave and the Bold, his movie, is already one of the most talked-about sections of the DCU’s new slate. The new Batman and his son Damian Wayne, who will be the new Robin, will be in the movie. Andy Muschietti, who directed the It flicks, will be in charge of it. Fans are quite excited, but there is no set release date yet because the screenplay is still being worked on.

We still don’t know who will play Batman, but we do know that Chris Pratt is still in the DC Universe.
