Jamie Lee Curtis Addresses Paparazzi Leak on ‘Freakier Friday’ Set: ‘We Tried to Keep It a Secret’

Actor and film producer Jamie Lee Curtis subtly called out the paparazzi for intruding on the set of her upcoming film “Freakier Friday,” a sequel to the beloved 2003 Disney comedy. According to Deadline, Curtis expressed her frustration that the filmmakers had hoped to keep the project under wraps until its official release.

Despite the leaks, Curtis reassured fans that no significant plot details were revealed in the unauthorized photos. Taking a proactive approach, she decided to share one behind-the-scenes (BTS) photo herself, highlighting both the intrusion and the positive experience on set. In the image she posted, Curtis is seen embracing her co-star Lindsay Lohan on the beach, capturing a moment of joy from the production.

“OK. Because other outlets have posted it, I am going to take advantage of the intrusion of a paparazzi picture into the creative process of filmmaking,” Curtis wrote on social media. “We have tried so hard to keep our story a secret and private until it’s time for release, but once in a while an image comes out, and it doesn’t tell you anything about the story or what’s going on with the characters, but it does show the joy and fun that we had making #FREAKIERFRIDAY. We know it will be the experience that you will have in theaters next year.”

Curtis had previously celebrated the completion of production on social media, praising Lohan as the “ULTIMATE movie daughter.” Lohan also expressed her excitement, sharing that her “heart is so full” and that making the film was a wonderful experience.

“I’m so grateful to have made this film, a story of family, mothers and their children, and a film filled with love, laughter, and a ton of heart!” Lohan wrote. “It has been a pleasure to work with my dear friend @jamieleecurtis, who brings so much joy to our set every day and has made this all the more special!”

Set for release next year, “Freakier Friday” is the highly anticipated follow-up to the 2003 hit “Freaky Friday,” in which Curtis and Lohan starred as a mother and daughter who swap bodies after a magical incident involving a fortune cookie. The original film, based on Mary Rodgers’ children’s novel and the 1976 film adaptation, grossed over $160 million worldwide and continues to have a loyal fan base.
