Washington [US], December 17: Veteran actor Jamie Lee Curtis is set to take on the iconic role of Jessica Fletcher in the upcoming film “Murder”, a movie adaptation of the beloved mystery series Murder, She Wrote, People reported.
While reports indicate that Curtis has also been involved in the screenplay adaptation, no official deal has been finalized yet. The film will be inspired by the classic CBS mystery show, which originally aired from 1984 to 1996 and starred Angela Lansbury as Jessica Fletcher, a sharp-witted amateur sleuth.
The screenplay for Murder will be penned by Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo, with production led by Lord Miller and Amy Pascal, according to the outlet.
Curtis, known for her roles in the iconic Halloween series, recently concluded her portrayal of Laurie Strode in David Gordon Green’s trilogy with Halloween Ends (2022). She also showcased her versatility in the murder mystery Knives Out (2019) and the horror-comedy series Scream Queens.
Curtis’s most recent project, “The Last Showgirl”, hit theaters on December 13. Directed by Gia Coppola, the film stars Pamela Anderson, Dave Bautista, and Brenda Song. Curtis plays a former showgirl-turned-waitress, offering another layer to her diverse portfolio.
Adding to her recent accolades, Curtis won the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series award at the 2024 Creative Arts Emmys for her standout performance as Donna Berzatto in The Bear.
