The makers of Thalapathy Vijay’s highly anticipated final film, Jana Nayagan, have issued a stern legal warning following a massive digital breach. After clips and HD versions of the unreleased film were leaked online between Thursday night and Friday morning, production house KVN Productions LLP initiated swift legal action.

The legal team has categorized any act of downloading, sharing, or even storing the leaked content as a “serious criminal offence” and a major copyright violation.

In an official public notice, the legal representatives expressed “shock and urgency” over the leak, noting that the film represents an investment of hundreds of crores with massive theatrical and OTT value. The statement clarified that proceedings have already begun against the individual responsible for the initial leak. “Every person involved shall be individually liable for criminal action,” the notice warned, specifically citing platforms like WhatsApp, Telegram, and X (formerly Twitter) as areas under surveillance.

The film industry has rallied behind the makers, with actor Sibi Sathyaraj expressing his distress over the incident. Taking to social media, he urged fans to respect the immense “money, effort, and hard work” that goes into filmmaking and requested the public to refrain from engaging with the pirated material. The leak is particularly sensitive as Jana Nayagan marks Vijay’s swan song before his full-time transition into politics ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

Directed by H. Vinoth, the film features a star-studded cast including Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, and Mamitha Baiju. Despite being completed, the film has faced a three-month delay due to ongoing issues with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). This breach has added further pressure on the producers as they navigate the film’s road to a formal theatrical release.
