Jannat Zubair Slams Body-Shaming on ‘Bigg Boss 19,’ Extends Support to Ashnoor Kaur

The TV star called the controversial comments “insensitive” and emphasized that a person’s body should not be “public property for jokes and opinions.

Television actress Jannat Zubair has taken a strong stance against the body-shaming incident involving Bigg Boss 19 contestant Ashnoor Kaur, following an episode that drew heavy backlash on social media. The controversy stemmed from alleged derogatory remarks made by fellow contestants Kunickaa Sadanand, Tanya Mittal, and Neelam Giri.

Jannat Calls for an End to Body Shaming

Taking to her Instagram story on Tuesday (October 28), Jannat expressed deep disappointment and firmly stood by Ashnoor. Sharing a photo of the young actress, she delivered a powerful message against the insensitivity displayed on the reality show.

“A person’s body is not public property for jokes and opinions. It’s 2025. We should’ve evolved past body shaming by now. She’s on that stage because she’s talented, confident, and unstoppable, not because she fits someone’s idea of a ‘perfect body.’ Proud of you, @ashnoorkaur, for holding your head high and being you,” Jannat wrote.

The Controversial Incident on Bigg Boss 19

The incident unfolded in a recent episode when Neelam Giri made a mocking comment to Kunickaa Sadanand and Tanya Mittal, asking, “Jurassic Park dekhoge?” while looking toward Ashnoor. The three were then seen laughing. Tanya further fueled the negativity by remarking that despite Ashnoor working out, she had “gained weight again” and had “started to look like her mother.”

The remarks immediately sparked outrage among viewers, with many fans and celebrities demanding that the show’s makers address the issue and hold the contestants accountable.

Rohan Mehra Also Voices Support

Jannat’s support follows that of Ashnoor’s former Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai co-star, Rohan Mehra, who was a contestant on Bigg Boss 10. Rohan also condemned the behavior on social media, writing:

“Body shaming is unacceptable. What happened to @ashnoorkaur today was wrong and needs to be called out. Respect and kindness should be the bare minimum. Shame on you, @iam_kunickaasadanand, @neelamgiri_, and @tanyamittalofficial.”

Bigg Boss 19 is hosted by Salman Khan and features the theme Gharwalon Ki Sarkaar. The remaining contestants include Ashnoor Kaur, Gaurav Khanna, Amaal Mallik, Tanya Mittal, Neelam Giri, Kunickaa Sadanand, Pranit More, Abhishek Bajaj, Mridul Sharma, and Shehbaz.
