March 9, 2025: In a grand celebration of Aamir Khan’s unparalleled contribution to Indian cinema, PVR INOX has announced a special film festival titled ‘Aamir Khan: Cinema Ka Jadugar’, dedicated to showcasing the superstar’s iconic performances over the years. The festival is set to begin on March 14, coinciding with Aamir Khan’s birthday, and will run until March 27, offering audiences a unique opportunity to revisit some of his most celebrated films on the big screen.

The announcement of the festival was made during a press conference in Mumbai, which featured an insightful conversation between Aamir Khan, legendary lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar, and PVR founder Ajay Bijli. Together, they unveiled the festival’s trailer, further heightening the excitement among fans. The event has sparked a wave of anticipation, with movie lovers eager to experience Aamir’s timeless films once again.

During the press conference, Javed Akhtar took a moment to reflect on his long history with Aamir Khan. He fondly recalled their first encounter, revealing a lesser-known fact: “Aamir worked in the first film written by me. I was writing the film Faryaaz in Panchgani for Nassir Hussain. When I saw Aamir, I immediately told Nassir that he is a star and should start with a romantic film.” Akhtar also revealed that Aamir’s first film was both produced and written by him, and interestingly, his son Farhan Akhtar’s first film also starred Aamir.

Aamir, in turn, shared an anecdote about his bond with Farhan Akhtar. He recalled how he had initially declined a script from Farhan but had waited eagerly for Javed Akhtar’s call afterward. “When Javed didn’t call, I realized Farhan must not have spoken to him and must truly believe in me,” Aamir revealed with a smile.

Javed Akhtar went on to praise Aamir’s fearless approach to choosing unconventional roles, highlighting how the actor’s bold decisions set him apart from others in the industry. “Only Aamir could have believed in these characters and stories. He did a film with Ashutosh (Gowariker) even after a flop. A new director, Farhan, came to him with a film featuring three heroes, and he agreed. Who else would have taken on a role like Dangal, where an aging father loses to his daughter in wrestling?” Akhtar noted. He added that Aamir’s willingness to take risks was unmatched, as many actors prefer to work only with directors who have a proven track record of success.

The ‘Aamir Khan: Cinema Ka Jadugar’ film festival will be hosted across PVR INOX theatres nationwide, allowing fans to relive the magic of Aamir Khan’s most iconic performances on the big screen. From Lagaan and Taare Zameen Par to Dangal and PK, the festival promises to be an unforgettable celebration of Aamir’s cinematic journey. With the festival just around the corner, fans are eager to celebrate the man who has redefined Indian cinema with his extraordinary talent and fearless choices.
