Jeethu Joseph Warns Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 3 Makers, Here’s Why?

July 21, 2025: The highly anticipated Drishyam 3 starring Mohanlal and directed by Jeethu Joseph, is firmly in the pipeline, but the filmmaker has put a stop to any plans of the Hindi remake, featuring Ajay Devgn, going on floors before the Malayalam original. In a recent interview with Matrubhumi, Joseph revealed he even threatened legal action to ensure the priority of the original version.

Joseph confirmed that there were demands and initial plans from the makers of the Hindi “Drishyam 3” to kickstart production first. However, he intervened, emphasizing the precedence of the Malayalam version as the original. “There were demands on making Malayalam and Hindi versions together, but we haven’t decided on those matters. There were initially some plans to start in Hindi first, but after a hint was given that this would be dealt with legally, they backed off from it,” Jeethu Joseph stated.

These remarks come amidst recent reports suggesting that Ajay Devgn’s Hindi “Drishyam 3” would soon commence filming. Jeethu Joseph, however, clarified that he is still in the process of penning the screenplay for the Malayalam film, which is now expected to go on floors in October this year. The Hindi version will only begin shooting after the Malayalam original.

The director had recently revealed at an event that he had completed writing the climax of “Drishyam 3,” expressing the immense pressure he had been under. “I finished writing the climax of Drishyam 3 last night. I’ve been under immense pressure for a long time,” he shared.

The “Drishyam” franchise, initiated by Jeethu Joseph in 2013 with Mohanlal in the lead, has become a cinematic phenomenon. It follows the gripping story of Georgekutty and his family as they navigate the aftermath of a missing person’s case.

Many people loved the movie so much that it was remade in many languages, such as Kannada (with V Ravichandran), Telugu (with Venkatesh), Tamil (with Kamal Haasan), and Hindi (with Ajay Devgn). It has been remade in Sinhala and Chinese, and adaptations are also being made in Indonesian and Korean. “Drishyam 2,” the sequel, was also a hit in Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu, and Hindi translations.

The announcement of “Drishyam 3” in February of this year built excitement for what is thought to be the last part of the exciting story.
