Jeff Bezos And Lauren Sanchez Are Now Married In Venice’s ₹430 Crore Wedding Spectacle | See First Pics
Venice, June 28, 2025 — The world’s third-richest man, Jeff Bezos, is now officially married. The Amazon founder exchanged vows with former news anchor and entertainment reporter Lauren Sanchez on Friday, marking the peak of a three-day, star-studded celebration in Venice that’s being called the “Wedding of the Century.”
The couple’s wedding was held on the scenic island of San Giorgio Maggiore, opposite the iconic St Mark’s Square. According to Italian reports, the black-tie ceremony was held in a vast open-air amphitheatre, followed by an intimate performance by Matteo Bocelli, son of opera legend Andrea Bocelli.
The first official photo of the newlyweds was posted by Sanchez on Instagram under her new name, @laurensanchezbezos. The picture shows her in a flowing white gown and Bezos in black tie — elegant, understated, and full of symbolism.
The couple is staying at the luxurious Aman hotel, a 16th-century palazzo overlooking the Grand Canal. Guests — who included Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Orlando Bloom, Queen Rania of Jordan, Tom Brady, Oprah Winfrey, Ivanka Trump, and François-Henri Pinault — were seen zipping across the lagoon in private boats.
Michelin-starred chef Fabrizio Mellino curated the wedding feast, while the cake was crafted by celebrated French pastry artist Cedric Grolet. Sanchez reportedly prepared 27 outfit changes for the celebrations.
Despite the glamor, the wedding wasn’t without criticism. Protesters projected messages like “No Kings, No Bezos” onto Venice’s historic structures, pointing to environmental and social issues linked to billionaires. Activists criticized the carbon footprint of the 95 private jets and mega yachts that brought VIPs to the city.
One protest sign read: “In the time it takes you to read this, Jeff Bezos’s wealth has increased by more than your monthly salary.”
Still, the event was a financial windfall for Venice. Italy’s tourism ministry estimates the wedding generated nearly €1 billion, including €895 million in media value alone. The couple also donated €3 million to local causes and employed Venetian artisans to craft party souvenirs, such as handblown Murano glass and traditional fishermen’s biscuits from Rosa Salva.
As Venice endures a heatwave, an influx of tourists, and a complex relationship with wealth, the Bezos-Sanchez wedding will remain etched in its history — as a symbol of modern extravagance, global spectacle, and the polarising allure of the ultra-rich.
