Jenna Ortega Reflects On Her Brief Role In 'Iron Man 3' And Her Marvel Experience
March 16, 2025: Actress Jenna Ortega recently shared a fun reflection on her brief appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film Iron Man 3, which starred Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Ortega opened up about her uncredited role in the 2013 film, which was one of her first acting gigs.
“I did it once. It was one of the first jobs I ever did. They took all my lines out. I’m in Iron Man 3 for a quick second. I take up the frame, I have one leg and I’m the vice president’s daughter,” Ortega said. Her role, although short, was a fun memory from the beginning of her acting career, though her lines were ultimately cut from the film.
Paul Rudd, who was interviewed alongside Ortega, expressed his hope that she would return to the MCU in the future, suggesting that Marvel is good at revisiting past characters. “Marvel is very good at like, kind of laying those breadcrumbs, and so it might very well be that you come back. That they are going to create something for you, cause they should be so lucky to have Jenna Ortega in their franchise,” Rudd said.
Ortega, known for her starring role in Wednesday, responded with a chuckle, not entirely convinced about her return to the MCU. “They even took my name away. I count that, then I move on,” she said, reflecting on how her brief role was not even acknowledged with a credit.
Iron Man 3 was a massive hit, grossing over 1.2 billion USD at the global box office, cementing its place as one of the top-performing Marvel films. It starred Downey Jr., Guy Pearce, Ben Kingsley, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Don Cheadle, and followed Tony Stark as he tries to recover from an attack by the Mandarin.
Since her uncredited role in Iron Man 3, Jenna Ortega’s career has soared, with standout performances in projects like You, The Fallout, Wednesday, Beetlejuice, and X. She is set to return for the second season of Wednesday, where Lady Gaga will have a prominent role. Ortega also has several exciting upcoming projects, including The Weeknd’s debut feature, Hurry Up Tomorrow, a remake of Single White Female, and The Gallerist, alongside Natalie Portman.
It seems that Ortega’s potential future in the MCU may not be completely ruled out yet, despite her initial doubts.
