Jenna Ortega, Taylor Russell In Talks For Remake Of ‘Single White Female’

March 15, 2025: The remake of the 1992 psychological thriller Single White Female may have found its leads, with Jenna Ortega and Taylor Russell reportedly in negotiations to star in the updated version of the classic film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The original movie, which starred Bridget Fonda and Jennifer Jason Leigh, was based on John Lutz’s 1990 novel SWF Seeks Same. The story revolves around a woman who unknowingly invites a dangerous stalker into her home while searching for a new roommate. Directed by Barbet Schroeder, the film was a box office hit, grossing $48 million in the U.S.

The remake is being developed by Elizabeth Gabler’s 3000 Pictures, a production company that has a deal with Sony Pictures. However, Sony has not yet commented on the project. The updated version is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the psychological thriller genre.

Jenna Ortega, known for her iconic role as Wednesday Addams in Netflix’s Wednesday, is set to star in A24’s Death of a Unicorn alongside Paul Rudd and will also appear in Hurry Up Tomorrow, a psychological thriller directed by The Weeknd, releasing in May 2025.

Taylor Russell, who gained recognition for her role in Waves, went on to star in Bones and All alongside Timothée Chalamet. She has also been part of Falling Skies and Netflix’s Lost in Space.

With these two rising stars potentially leading the remake, fans are eager to see how they will bring new energy to the iconic thriller and if the film can capture the essence of the original while introducing an updated take on the chilling story.
