Jennifer Lawrence, Robert Pattinson’s ‘Die, My Love’ Receives Six-Minute Standing Ovation At Cannes 2025

May 18, 2025 : The world premiere of Die, My Love, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson, received a six-minute standing ovation at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, as reported by Variety.

Directed by acclaimed Scottish filmmaker Lynne Ramsay, the film is in competition for the prestigious Palme d’Or. The cast, including Lawrence, Pattinson, and Ramsay, were present at the premiere, which took place to great acclaim. Overwhelmed by the response, Ramsay addressed the audience briefly, saying, “Wow. I’m so overwhelmed. Thanks to these amazing actors. I’ve got to get it together, I’ll see you in a minute.”

Die, My Love is an adaptation of Ariana Harwicz’s 2017 novel of the same name. It tells the intense and haunting story of a woman grappling with postpartum depression, leading to a descent into psychosis. Lawrence plays the emotionally unraveling new mother, while Pattinson portrays her husband as their marriage teeters on the edge.

The film also features performances by LaKeith Stanfield, Sissy Spacek, and Nick Nolte. Although it has not yet secured a U.S. distributor, it is expected to be one of the most sought-after sales titles at Cannes this year.

Lynne Ramsay is no stranger to the Cannes spotlight. Her debut feature Ratcatcher premiered in the Un Certain Regard section in 1999 and later won a BAFTA for Outstanding Debut by a British writer, director or producer. Her 2017 film You Were Never Really Here earned Cannes accolades for Best Screenplay and Best Actor (Joaquin Phoenix). Die, My Love marks Ramsay’s return to directing after an eight-year hiatus.
