May 14, 2025: Jennifer Lopez is proving once again that showbiz isn’t for the faint of heart. The global superstar recently revealed a painful-looking injury sustained during rehearsals for the upcoming American Music Awards (AMAs), where she’s set to return as host.

On Tuesday, May 13, Lopez took to Instagram Stories to share an image of a cut across the bridge of her nose, followed by another photo showing her icing the wound. Captioning the post with, “So…this happened,” she confirmed that the accident took place during prep for the AMAs.

Despite the alarming injury, Lopez is already on the mend. In a follow-up post, she shared that she had received treatment from celebrity cosmetic surgeon Dr. Jason Diamond, noting, “A week later and a whole lotta ice and I’m good as new.

With less than two weeks to go before the May 26 awards ceremony at the BleauLive Theater in Las Vegas, Lopez is determined to recover in time to take center stage. Her hosting return marks a full decade since she first helmed the event in 2015.

The announcement of her return came on April 9, with Jay Penske, CEO of Dick Clark Productions, praising Lopez as the perfect choice: “Jennifer’s incredible talent and incomparable stage presence make her the ideal host of the show.

Lopez has a long history with the AMAs, dating back to her first performance in 2001. She reminisced about her 2015 appearance in a taped interview celebrating the show’s 50th anniversary, calling the energy of the live audience “electric.

In 2011, she won the Favorite Latin Artist award — a moment she described as “incredibly special” because it was directly from the fans. “It’s just a humbling experience,” Lopez said.

Now, with her injury nearly healed and her passion fully intact, the “Let’s Get Loud” singer seems more ready than ever to own the spotlight.

Off-stage, Lopez also celebrated Mother’s Day on May 11 with touching posts featuring her 17-year-old twins, Max and Emme, and her mother, Guadalupe Rodríguez, sharing a heartfelt message to fellow moms:
Wishing everyone love, laughter, peace, joy, and happiness.

The American Music Awards, produced by Dick Clark Productions, airs live on Monday, May 26 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+.
