Jennifer Lopez’s Heartfelt Promise to Her Twins After Ben Affleck Split Will Move You

May 8, 2025: Jennifer Lopez has opened up about the emotional journey she faced after her divorce from Ben Affleck, crediting her 17-year-old twins, Max and Emme, for helping her find strength and peace during the difficult period.

The 55-year-old singer and actress filed for divorce from Affleck in August 2024, after just two years of marriage, and says her children became her emotional anchor.

In a candid interview with Spain’s El País, Lopez recalled a promise she made to her children: “I said, ‘I promise you, this is a difficult time, but you’re going to see that I’ll come out the other side stronger and better.’ I promised them that and I did it. And they feel it now. That gives me a great sense of peace in my life.”

She expressed pride in how far she and her family have come, saying, “I’m happier that I’m a step further along than I was a year ago, two years ago, three years ago… I’m proud of myself for that and I’m proud that I was able to navigate my children through difficult times.”

Though the couple has separated, their blended families remain close. Jennifer’s twins recently joined their former step-siblings — Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel — at the premiere of The Accountant 2, where Affleck stars. Speaking at the premiere, the 52-year-old actor praised Lopez, calling her “spectacular” and expressing admiration for her continued bond with his children.

“Jennifer Lopez is spectacular, great to my kids, great ongoing relationship with them,” Affleck told Entertainment Tonight. “She’s an enormously important, tremendous person of a lot of integrity who I adore and am grateful to.”

Despite their separation, the mutual respect between Lopez and Affleck remains strong — a sentiment echoed by both stars as they continue to co-parent and support their families.
