June 3, 2025: Taylor Swift‘s fans are buzzing with theories that her ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn subtly showed his support for her massive $360 million music catalog buyback — all through a simple Instagram photo.

Swift recently confirmed she purchased her masters from investment firm Shamrock Capital, reclaiming the rights to her first six albums: Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, and Reputation. The announcement was met with overwhelming excitement, but some eagle-eyed fans are convinced that Alwyn may have given an early nod to the news months ago.

Back in March, Alwyn posted a photo dump on Instagram that included an image of a heart-shaped dish featuring a four-leaf clover. Fans quickly connected the green symbol to Shamrock Capital, whose logo is — you guessed it — a shamrock.
Though Shamrock’s logo features a traditional three-leaf clover and Alwyn’s image showed four leaves, that didn’t stop Swifties from diving into detective mode. TikTok lit up with fan theories suggesting the British actor was sending a cryptic, supportive message to Swift.
“He got so good at the art of secret, coded messages — he learned it from her,” one TikTok user said. Another added, “He’s happy for her, that’s all.”
Others believed it showed genuine goodwill: “Well maybe he does wish her well. I’m sure she was a good girlfriend,” another fan commented.
However, not everyone is convinced. Critics pointed out that the photo came just days before St. Patrick’s Day — a holiday commonly associated with four-leaf clovers — suggesting the timing was merely festive, not symbolic.
“This is a stretch you guys,” one skeptic wrote. Another said bluntly, “It was Saint Patrick’s Day, not a hint.”
Alwyn and Swift ended their six-year relationship in 2023. Swift has since found love with NFL star Travis Kelce, while continuing her journey to regain control of her artistry.
Swift began re-recording her albums in 2021 after music manager Scooter Braun sold her original masters to Shamrock Capital. Since then, she’s re-released Fearless, Red, Speak Now, and 1989 under her own label.
In an emotional message posted on May 30, Swift announced she had officially purchased her masters, saying: “All of the music I’ve ever made… now belongs… to me.” She also teased her upcoming re-recording of her debut album and hinted that she has just started work on Reputation (Taylor’s Version).
In true Taylor fashion, she even joked about celebrating her win in a big way — by getting “a huge shamrock in the middle of [her] forehead.”
As for Alwyn? Whether it was a quiet message of support or just a holiday-themed post, the timing has Swifties talking.
