John Abraham Calls ‘The Diplomat’ An “Emotional, On-The-Edge Psychological Thriller”

February 26, 2025: Bollywood actor John Abraham is gearing up for an exciting new project, starring in the intense political thriller, The Diplomat. The film promises to keep audiences on the edge of their seats with its gripping storyline. John shared his thoughts on what drew him to the film, emphasizing that it’s not just a patriotic story but rather an emotional and psychological thriller.

“I didn’t do the film just because it’s patriotic; I did it because it’s an emotional, on-the-edge psychological thriller,” John said. He compared the film to Argo, the 2012 Academy Award-winning political thriller based on true events, stating, “It’s like a film called Argo. If you watch that film, it’s a true story about the US Embassy in Iran and how they had to get people out. You won’t move when you watch that film; you’ll just be glued to your seat. That feeling is what I got from The Diplomat.”

John also pointed out that the film is not a typical India-Pakistan conflict story, urging audiences to approach it from a humanitarian angle. “This is not a typical India-Pakistan film. View it from a humanitarian angle,” he added, encouraging viewers to see the film as more than just a narrative about conflict.

The Diplomat, directed by Shivam Nair, stars John Abraham as JP Singh, a highly skilled diplomat tasked with navigating a high-stakes international mission. The film is based on a real-life incident and tells the story of Uzma, a woman from Delhi who traveled to Malaysia for work, got involved with a Pakistani individual, and found herself trapped in Pakistan. The plot focuses on the power of negotiation and intellect over violence and war, presenting an intense political thriller that highlights the complexities of international diplomacy.

Producer Bhushan Kumar, alongside John Abraham’s JA Entertainment and other collaborators, is bringing this story to the big screen. The film is slated for release on March 14, just in time for the Holi weekend, a week later than its original release date of March 7. The anticipation surrounding the film is high, and with John Abraham in the lead, The Diplomat promises to be an unforgettable cinematic experience.
