John Cena Opens Up About Getting Hair Transplant After Fan Bullying: ‘This Isn’t Cool’

The WWE legend and “Peacemaker” star admits he felt pressured to undergo cosmetic surgery after relentless mocking over his bald spot.

John Cena, 47, is known for his toughness in the ring — but in a candid moment during a live appearance on The Pat McAfee Show at the WWE World fan experience, the wrestling icon admitted to something deeply personal: he got a hair transplant after being “bullied” by fans over his bald spot.

“You chant and you make me feel small and you embarrass me,” Cena told the audience.
“That is straight-up bullying. That’s just not cool. I don’t like it.”

The Fast X and Peacemaker star sarcastically thanked fans for pushing him to undergo surgical hair replacement after relentless ridicule — including signs mocking his appearance at events and even during matches.

“It’s Coming In… Slowly”

Explaining the recovery process, Cena noted that post-surgery, hair actually falls out before it begins to regrow.

“And that’s the thing — your old hair falls out so the new ones can grow. So now I’m in limbo,” he laughed.
“It’s coming in, man. It’s coming. Hopefully, in a couple of months, it looks better.”

“Why Do You Think I Did It?”

Cena didn’t hold back his frustration:

“This isn’t cool. You guys aren’t cool to me. Why do you think I did it?”
“I’m in the Rumble trying to win, and all I hear is, ‘How’s the bald spot?’ Like, come on.”

While he kept the identity of his surgeon under wraps, he joked:

“Once I’ve got long flowing locks, I’ll tell y’all who to go to.”

A WWE Champion Facing Real-World Insecurities

Despite winning his record 17th WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41, Cena admitted that being constantly scrutinized by fans took a toll on his confidence.

“You guys ripped me to shreds for a genetic problem I can’t control. One of you could have pulled me aside. Instead, I got dragged in front of thousands,” he said.

Cena’s Boldness on and Off the Stage

While he may have been dealing with insecurities off-camera, Cena made headlines last year for confidently presenting an Oscar nearly nude, covering himself with only a large envelope — a bold move that highlighted his comedic and confident side.
