Krasinski to headline Penelope Skinner’s one-man play, directed by Sam Gold, at the newly renamed Studio Seaview this June
Washington [US], March 26: John Krasinski is set to make a dramatic return to the stage this summer in Angry Alan, a darkly comedic one-man play written by Penelope Skinner. The production will mark the first show at the newly renamed Studio Seaview, formerly known as the Tony Kiser Theatre, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Angry Alan, directed by Sam Gold (An Enemy of the People, Romeo + Juliet), will begin previews on May 23, with an official opening night scheduled for June 11. The limited engagement is expected to run for 10 weeks.
The play first made waves during its 2018 premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, later earning acclaim in London and on the international stage. The narrative centers around Roger, a disillusioned man whose growing frustrations with life and career lead him down a dark rabbit hole—embracing a radical online ideology that blames feminism for the world’s problems. The piece was originally co-created with Donald Sage Mackay, who also starred in early productions.
Krasinski, best known for his roles in The Office, A Quiet Place, and the upcoming film IF, is no stranger to theatre. He previously appeared Off-Broadway in Dry Powder (2016), opposite Claire Danes and Hank Azaria.
Sharing his enthusiasm, Krasinski said, “I couldn’t be more excited to be returning to Off-Broadway, and to be surrounded by such a force of talent in Penny and Sam is quite literally a dream scenario.”
This marks a significant moment not only for Krasinski’s return to live theater but also for Studio Seaview, as it launches under its new name with a powerful and timely solo performance.
