May 7, 2025: The plot of “John Wick 5“ may surprise fans, as franchise director Chad Stahelski recently revealed that the next installment will offer a fresh direction. In an interview with Empire, Stahelski explained that the High Table storyline, central to the first four films, has reached its conclusion, and the fifth movie will be a departure from that narrative.

“The saga of John Wick was pretty wrapped up,” Stahelski shared. “So the only way to do a [fifth film] is to have a new story that involves John Wick. It’s not a continuation with the High Table. John dealt with his grief. It will be really different, and everybody [will] see the trailer and go, ‘Holy fuck… I gotta see that.’”

For fans eager for more of the Wick-verse, there are several exciting projects in the pipeline before John Wick 5 arrives. These include “Ballerina”, which stars Ana de Armas, the “Under The High Table” TV show, and an animated prequel film exploring Wick’s past. Stahelski emphasized that these upcoming projects will lay the groundwork for the story in John Wick 5.
“The John Wick TV show and the animation are big priorities,” Stahelski explained. “Our idea is to try some things and explore some threads and use those two properties to catapult us forward into the ideas for ‘John 5.’”
The next chapter in the Wick-verse is “Ballerina,” which is set to release on June 6. Taking place after the events of “John Wick: Chapter 3”, the film follows Ana de Armas as a skilled assassin from the Ruska Roma organization, seeking revenge for her father’s death.

With all these exciting developments, “John Wick 5” promises to bring a fresh and thrilling chapter to the action-packed saga.
