Jonathan Daviss to Channel Snoop Dogg in Upcoming Universal Biopic

June 10, 2025: Outer Banks star Jonathan Daviss is stepping into some legendary shoes — he’s set to play Snoop Dogg in the much-anticipated Universal Pictures biopic, directed by Hustle & Flow filmmaker Craig Brewer. This marks the definitive on-screen portrayal of the West Coast rap icon, Calvin Broadus Jr., famously known as Snoop Dogg.

Daviss, known for his role as Pope in Netflix’s Outer Banks, was recently cast after the studio finalized Brewer as the director. He’ll be bringing to life the early days of Snoop’s career, from his roots in Long Beach to his meteoric rise in hip hop under Death Row Records with the release of his groundbreaking debut album Doggystyle. The film promises to showcase not just his musical genius but his cultural impact — from collaborations with Dr. Dre to viral moments like his appearances at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
