Josh Gad Explains The Reason Why ‘Frozen 3’ Won’t Release Until 2027

He explained that the extended wait is due to the film’s creators wanting to ensure the movie lives up to the legacy of the first Frozen film, released in 2013. Gad mentioned that while he’s excited about the project, he’s sworn to secrecy and can’t reveal many details, emphasizing that the team is focused on delivering a story that’s “worthy” of the years of anticipation.

“There’s a reason the movie is coming out in 2027. And that is because no one wants to rush this,” Gad said, adding, “They want this to not just be a sequel or a money grab. They want this to be absolutely worthy of the story we set out to make in 2013.”

Though he couldn’t divulge specifics, Gad teased fans with a hint that something “incredible” is in store. He reassured fans that the team is actively working on the story and that it’s a project they are very excited about.

The Frozen franchise began with the massive success of the first film in 2013, which grossed over USD 1.2 billion worldwide, and its 2019 sequel, Frozen 2, was equally successful.
