Justin Bieber Skips Met Gala 2025 for Hockey Night: Fans Alarmed by Troubling Signs

While Hailey Bieber turned heads on the Met Gala red carpet, Justin opted for a quiet night watching the NHL playoffs—amid growing concerns about his mental health and lifestyle choices.

New York, May 6 – Pop sensation Justin Bieber chose a quiet night in over fashion’s biggest evening, skipping the 2025 Met Gala to watch the Toronto Maple Leafs’ nail-biting 5-4 playoff win against the Florida Panthers with friends.

On the same night, his wife Hailey Bieber graced the red carpet solo at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The 28-year-old model and Rhode skincare founder embraced this year’s theme — Superfine: Tailoring Black Style — in a tailored black Saint Laurent mini dress paired with sheer tights, patent platform heels, and dazzling Tiffany & Co. jewelry.

Hailey was spotted holding a martini en route to the gala, but the drink was absent by the time she posed for photos on the Met’s iconic steps. This marks another solo appearance for Hailey, who first attended the event with Justin in 2021.

Justin’s absence comes at a time when fans have raised alarms about his well-being. On May 4, the singer posted an Instagram photo showing himself in the background smoking a bong while musician Eddie Benjamin played guitar. He also stirred controversy last month at Coachella, where he was filmed smoking what appeared to be marijuana next to his 15-year-old brother Jaxon.

Sources close to Bieber say the star has been struggling. “He is facing a lot of different demons right now,” one insider told PEOPLE. “His recent choices are straining relationships, affecting his business, and worrying those around him.”

The 2025 Met Gala, co-chaired by Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour, spotlighted the Costume Institute’s spring exhibit Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. Inspired by Monica L. Miller’s book Slaves to Fashion, the exhibition explores Black dandyism and the evolution of Black sartorial identity.
