On Sunday (June 8), the 31-year-old pop star took to Instagram to share two black-and-white selfies, accompanied by a cryptic yet powerful message:

“Tired of transactional relationships. If I have to do something to be loved, that’s not love.”

The post immediately caught attention, with fans and followers interpreting it as a reflection on the pressures of fame, performance, and conditional love. It also arrives just days after Bieber and wife Hailey welcomed their son, Jack, nine months ago.

A day earlier, Bieber had voiced his frustration with society’s relentless work culture, calling out those who push others to constantly “work harder.”

“This is how I feel after people keep telling me there’s more work to do after I’ve given everything I have to give,” he wrote on his Instagram Story, alongside a weary selfie.
“I don’t think any of us can handle hearing, ‘You just gotta try a little harder and you will be like me.’ It’s not true.”

In a rare and raw moment, the Love Yourself singer further emphasized the importance of shifting focus from constant self-improvement to faith and compassion.

“This life is about God. Loving us so we can love each other. Quit making your life about work,” he continued.
“God will always inspire you to want to work harder. You think if you don’t tell people to work hard they won’t? Stop playing God.”

Bieber, who has been candid in the past about his struggles with mental health and spirituality, also addressed the downside of self-help culture.

“The harder I work on myself, the more I think about myself,” he confessed.
“I thought the point was to think about one another? The only thing that helps me think about others is to let go, not try harder.”

Despite the heavy tone of his posts, Bieber ended the weekend on a loving note, sharing a screenshot of a video call with Hailey.

“That’s a man who LOVES his wife,” he captioned the sweet photo.

With these messages, Justin Bieber continues to peel back the layers of fame and public expectation, offering a refreshingly honest perspective on love, faith, and the cost of constantly trying to measure up.
