The film was officially announced at the Cannes Film Festival, with National Award-winning actor Dhanush set to portray the iconic scientist and visionary leader, known as the ‘Missile Man of India.’
The film will focus on the multifaceted life of Dr. Kalam, exploring not just his contributions to India’s missile programs but also his inspiring presidency, his work as a poet, teacher, and spiritual dreamer. The story will capture the essence of a man whose words and actions were a perfect blend of science and spirituality, and whose leadership and vision played a pivotal role in nation-building.
Directed by Om Raut, the filmmaker behind the recent hit Adipurush, Kalam is positioned not just as a political biography but as an exploration of the essence of leadership. Raut spoke passionately about the film, stating, “In an era starved of true statesmen, Kalam stood above politics and pettiness. He was a man who was known for his power of education, excellence, and indigenous innovation. To bring his story to screen is an artistic challenge and a moral responsibility.”
The film will delve into Dr. Kalam’s inspiring rise from humble beginnings in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, to becoming a celebrated aerospace scientist and eventually one of India’s most beloved Presidents.
