Kangana Ranaut Calls Live-In Relationship Non ‘Women-Friendly’

The actor and BJP MP’s comments follow a recent controversy sparked by spiritual leader Aniruddhacharya and Disha Patani’s sister, Khusboo Patani.

August 16, 2025: Kangana Ranaut, an actor and BJP MP from Mandi, has joined the recent debate about live-in relationships. She strongly believes that this practice is “not women-friendly.” In a new interview, she talked about the issue after a spiritual leader’s comments on it caused a stir.

Kangana talked about a lot of things throughout the conversation, but her most frank views were about modern relationships. She said that even if people are talking more and more about living together, these arrangements are really dangerous for women.

“Marriages are very important in our society, and it is the promise that the man makes to stay loyal to his wife,” Kangana added. “From what I have seen, these are not things that are good for women.”

She brought up a specific worry: who would be liable if a woman in a live-in relationship got pregnant? “Kal ko aap pregnant hote hain in a live-in… aap ka abortion kaun karayega?” she inquired.

The actress backed up her point of view by quoting a scientific study that said, “Men can compartmentalize, but women can’t.” She said that males would want different things in a girlfriend than in a wife, but women would want the same things in both a boyfriend and a husband.

Kangana’s views come just a few weeks after spiritual teacher Aniruddhacharya sparked a debate about live-in relationships by saying that women over 25 who are single and living with a man are “promiscuous.” Khusboo Patani, Disha Patani’s sister and a former Major in the Indian Army, strongly attacked his comments on social media, calling them “misogynistic.”

After a lot of people were upset, Aniruddhacharya apologized and said that his statements were meant for “some women, not all.” However, the scandal continued to grow. Kangana’s most recent comments have made her the center of attention on social media, where people are having a lot of different emotions.
