Kangana Ranaut Reacts to Kapoor Family’s Meeting with PM Modi; Seeks Audience Too

Kangana says the film industry requires guidance, calling the meeting with PM Modi a crucial step for its future. She also reveals her request for an audience with the Prime Minister.

December 17, 2024: Kangana Ranaut recently shared her thoughts on the Kapoor family’s meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where they invited him to attend the Raj Kapoor Film Festival, marking the late legend’s 100th birth anniversary. In an interview with Agenda Aaj Tak, the actress responded to questions about PM Modi’s engagement with the film industry, highlighting the need for more structured guidance for the sector.

While acknowledging the importance of the Kapoor family’s meeting with PM Modi, Kangana expressed her desire to also meet the Prime Minister. “I think our film industry definitely needs a lot of guidance. It’s a soft power, but it’s underutilized,” she said. “The industry is like an orphan, it has no guidance, which makes it vulnerable to exploitation. That’s why various agendas, whether it is the Jihadi agenda or the Palestinian agenda, can easily influence it.”

Kangana further elaborated on the vulnerabilities of the film industry, stating, “People in the industry can be manipulated with money. They often end up being targets of hawala, drugs, or even attending gangsters’ parties in Dubai. Without proper direction, they often feel like they can get away with anything.” She applauded the Prime Minister’s involvement with the industry, seeing it as a step in the right direction to ensure film professionals feel acknowledged and respected.

She also addressed the lack of recognition for the film industry’s economic contributions, noting, “We are part of one of the largest industries in the country, yet we don’t receive the same respect as other sectors. We generate so much revenue and create countless jobs, but we are often overlooked.”

Kangana also revealed that she has requested an audience with PM Modi to discuss these concerns. “I have been part of the industry for 20 years and I hope to meet the Prime Minister soon to discuss how the film industry can be better guided and supported.”

Looking ahead, Kangana is preparing for her upcoming film Emergency, where she directs and stars as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film is set to release in 2025 and also features Shreyas Talpade, Anupam Kher, and Mahima Chaudhary in key roles.
