Kangana Ranaut Unveils Anthem ‘Singhasan Khali Karo’ from ‘Emergency’

Kangana Ranaut has officially released the first track, Singhasan Khali Karo, from her much-anticipated political drama Emergency. The actress took to her Instagram story to share the impactful song with her fans, reviving the iconic anthem originally penned by the legendary poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar. This powerful track resonates with the spirit of resistance during one of India’s most tumultuous political periods.

The song, composed by the talented G.V. Prakash Kumar, features lyrics by Manoj Muntashir and is brought to life by the vocal trio of Udit Narayan, Nakash Aziz, and Nakul Abhyankar. The track captures the emotional and revolutionary essence of the 1970s when the slogan “Singhasan Khali Karo” became a rallying cry against the tyranny of then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s regime.

Kangana, reflecting on the song, said, “In the 1970s, the people of India rallied together and found their voice in ‘Singhasan Khali Karo,’ a slogan that challenged the tyranny of Mrs. Indira Gandhi’s premiership. These were the words of Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, celebrated as the poet of rebellion, and they became Jayaprakash Narayan’s call for Total Revolution. This clarion call shook the very foundations of power, its aftershocks birthing new parties and ideologies.”

G.V. Prakash Kumar shared his experience of composing the song, describing it as an extraordinary journey that dives deep into the raw, revolutionary spirit of the era. He praised Manoj Muntashir’s powerful lyrics and the vocal prowess of Udit Narayan, Nakash Aziz, and Nakul Abhyankar, who together aimed to create a song that tributes the struggles of the past while reminding people of their power.

Emergency, directed and produced by Kangana Ranaut under the banner of Manikarnika Films, features an ensemble cast including Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik. The film, set during the Emergency imposed in India in 1975, sees Ranaut portraying the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

The recently released trailer for Emergency has already intrigued audiences, providing glimpses into the personal and political challenges faced by Indira Gandhi, her bond with her father Jawaharlal Nehru, and the various issues that shaped India’s history during the period, including the Shimla Agreement, the rise of the Khalistan movement, and the JP Andolan.

Produced by Zee Studios and Manikarnika Films, Emergency promises to be a gripping portrayal of one of India’s most significant political chapters, with screenplay and dialogues by Ritesh Shah and music orchestrated by Sanchit Balhara.
