Kangana Ranaut’s Bold Portrayal in ‘Emergency’ Trailer Out

The much-anticipated trailer for Kangana Ranaut’s latest venture, Emergency, has finally dropped, and it promises to be a gripping political drama.

Taking to her social media, Kangana shared the intense trailer, offering viewers a glimpse into the turbulent period of India’s history during the 1975 Emergency.

Helmed entirely by Ranaut, Emergency boasts an impressive cast, including seasoned actors like Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik in pivotal roles. The film is set during the tumultuous time when the Emergency was imposed in India, with Kangana herself portraying the formidable former Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi.

The trailer opens with scenes depicting a young Indira Gandhi’s close relationship with her father, Jawaharlal Nehru, as she embarks on her political journey. It then delves into the conflicts, political chaos, and significant events that defined her lengthy career, showcasing moments from the Emergency period, the Shimla Agreement, the rise of the Khalistan movement, and the JP Andolan.

Kangana, in her post, described the film with fervor, stating, “INDIA is INDIRA & INDIRA is INDIA!!! The Most Powerful Woman In The History of the country, The Darkest Chapter She Wrote in its History! Witness ambition collide with tyranny.” She further announced that Emergency will unfold in cinemas worldwide on September 6, 2024.

Earlier, fans were treated to a new poster featuring the star-studded cast, further heightening anticipation for the film. Kangana teased the release with the caption, “Witness the Darkest Times of Democratic Indian History & the lust For Power that almost burned down the Nation!”

Emergency is produced by Zee Studios and Manikarnika Films and is set against one of India’s most controversial political periods. With a screenplay and dialogues crafted by Ritesh Shah and music orchestrated by Sanchit Balhara, the film is poised to captivate audiences with its raw portrayal of a significant chapter in Indian history.
